As promised, here are the finished pointers! For those of you that haven't been keeping up with the tabs, in the "Fabulous Finds" tab I posted some cute wooden painted animal shapes that I found at Walmart and I promised to post a picture of the finished product. I used some dowels (cut in half) and painted them using Acrylic paint and then I hot glued the animal shapes to the tops. Next, I will be making a stand to hold all of the pointers so keep a lookout for pictures of that coming soon! But for now, head on over to Michael's or Walmart to find some of these stinkin cute critters!

After the Makeover
I thought about adding some ribbon to decorate the dowels, but on second thought decided against it because no amount of hot glue will keep those ribbons in place once the kiddles start using them! :)
Happy Crafting!

I've made these before, but the animals fall off once the students start using them/dropping them/etc. May have to try them again!
Wow! Thanks for letting me know... I'll have to think of something to use to reinforce it so that maybe the animals don't fall off! Yikes :/ That wouldn't be good at all! I thought the animals were so cute and I wanted to use them for something... so I thought this would work. Maybe I should have glued them to a box or something else where they would be safer. Lol.
I was also thinking about using shorter sticks and E5000 glue.

Kinderpond, the reason I used the long sticks is because I figured that this way the animal would be further away from the vicinity of where they place their hands to grip the wand... I'm hoping it will last longer this way. :/ Plus, if you have things higher up on the walls it is easier for the kiddles to point to the items if it is longer. I just broke the dowel in half... though its not a 'perfect' half per say. LOL.
