Oobleck Experiment Freebie for Dr. Seuss Week

After searching high and low for an Oobleck Experiment worksheet on the internet to go with my experiment and coming up empty handed...I decided to create my own.  I hope you are all having a fabulous Seuss-tastic week! Hopefully y'all can use this in your classrooms this week and if not, you can always print it and file it for next year.  My Second Grade Sweeties had such an amazing time with this experiment and I overheard talk of them wanting the Oobleck Experiment Worksheet so that they could go home and make some more.  Apparently the Ziploc baggies of Oobleck that I sent home with each of them yesterday after the lesson did not do it justice.  I must say though that I was a little worried when one of my sweeties came up to me and asked me what would happen if they poured it on themselves... YIKES! That's all I can say... poor parents! I did tell the whole class though NOT to go home and pour it down any sink because it would clog the pipes just like it clogged the "trumpeter's" trumpet and other things in the story, Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss.  I also told them NOT TO EAT IT, even though the "Captain of the Guards" decided to eat some.

Click HERE for your copy of the Oobleck Experiment worksheets I used!

Just a Note/Suggestion:  For the "Analyze Your Observations" portion of the Worksheet (on the second page) I had the students write adjectives that describe Oobleck by making lines (to look like a web) all around the picture of King Derwin of Didd.

The Lorax Writing Craftivity Freebie!!!

Hi Friends,

So... I know I haven't been posting as much as I promised I would but internship has me going cuckoo for cocoa puffs! To make up for the fact that I've been posting super late for everything I decided to post this little writing craftivity early so that y'all can use it next week for Seuss week.  I'm going to be doing read alouds all week long for my Second Grade Sweeties using Dr. Seuss books and since the movie THE LORAX will be coming out on Friday, March 2nd (Dr. Seuss's Birthday) I decided to do this little activity with them... so be sure and click below so that you can re-create it in your own classrooms.  I'll be posting pictures next week of the finished product.  But, for now, here is the sample...

Click HERE for the Lorax Writing Craftivity pictured above!

The Writing Prompt that I will be using to go with this activity will be the following:

"I would help the Lorax save the Truffula trees by..."

Wishing everyone a fan-seussical week!  And don't forget to check out The Lorax in theaters on March 2nd!

I've Taken Over!!!

Hi Everyone,

I know I've been MIA for the last couple of weeks but Internship has really taken everything out of me! I've been having such a fabulous time with my second grade sweeties and working hard with my lessons and activities to keep them excited and engaged that I have, in all honesty, been too busy to log on here and post.  I know I keep promising that I am going to log on here more often but ever since I "Took Over" all of the subjects... I've been pretty busy to say the least, so this time I will not make promises that I can't keep.  Instead I'll just say that I HOPE {with a cherry on top!} that I have more time in the coming weeks to stop by and let y'all know how everything is going in my Second Grade World! Until then, you can check out the Super Cute spur-of-the-moment Anchor chart that I made to go along with our nonfiction Reading Textbook story of the week: Ants!

As always,

Happy Teaching!

We filled this out in class, using the information from the text, to learn about the different kinds of ants featured in our Reading series.
