Fry Place Value

When you're craving some McDonald's ask them for 3 Medium Fry Boxes.  Use these on your teaching wall to teach place value!  You can either use Yellow Pipe Cleaners as the fries or make some fries out of yellow construction paper.  Get the Fry Place Value Labels HERE .

Ladybug Math

Spring is just around the corner! What a better way to welcome Spring than by reading the story of "The Grouchy Ladybug" by Eric Carle and incorporating these Math Work Mats into your Math Work Station.

Math Work Mats with Ladybugs

To create the Math work mats, simply cut out a leaf pattern onto green construction paper.  Then mark the leaves with numerals, tally marks, etc. to have students count and sort the ladybugs onto each respective leaf.  Note: The leaf patterns will last longer if you laminate them for durability.

To make the ladybugs:  Purchase a bag of Lima Beans (the kind that are dry and come in a bag, not a can).  Then, lay all of the lima beans out on a large cardboard (size of cardboard depends on the amount of ladybugs you have) and spray paint the lima beans on one side.  If you like, you can wait the suggested drying time and then paint the reverse side of the lima beans.  Once the lima beans are completely dry, use a Sharpie (or any permanent marker) to draw the head, dividing body line, and spots on each ladybug.
